Most haemorrhoids do not need an operation
Do all haemorrhoids require surgery? No. Many cases can be managed without surgery, and treatment usually begins with simple measures before any procedure is considered.
When a procedure is needed, the choice depends on how far the haemorrhoid comes out. Haemorrhoids that do not stay out are usually treated in the clinic, for example with banding or injection sclerotherapy, while surgery is usually offered when the haemorrhoid stays out or when symptoms keep returning despite other treatment.
